In an interview with BBC's Network Africa monitored by ENA Thursday, Spokesman of the TFG President, Abdurashid Adan Seid said that, "The Ethiopians are there upon the request of the Somali Government and they are helping."

"The government of Somalia has every right to invite foreign forces to come from different countries," Abdurashid said, and added, "Not only Ethiopians, but there are Ugandans and also advisors from other countries."
Dessutom uttrycker Somalias rättmätiga ledarskap tacksamhet gentemot Etiopiens ingripande.
Siyoum Mesfin, the Ethiopian foreign minister met with President Abdulahi Yusuf over the political issues between Somalia and Ethiopia and best ways to promote peace in the region in prevent of any terrorist actions in horn of Africa.

Mr. Yusuf thanked Ethiopian government for the help it offered interim government in order to stand on its feet and control whole Somalia.

"My government in collaboration with its neighbor (Ethiopian government) won to oust the so-called Islamic Courts and its terrorist groups from the capital and now my government is with its people working together how to restore peace and security," Yusuf said.
Ali Mohamed Gedi drove through the streets of Mogadishu in a heavily armed convoy a day after Islamic fighters fled and his Ethiopian-backed troops seized the city.

"Today is the beginning of a new life, new stabilization and a new future for Somalia," Gedi told cheering residents.

As a sign of goodwill, President Abdullahi Yusuf and the Ethiopian government declared a 24-hour ceasefire to mark the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha today.

Waving Somali flags, thousands lined the streets and climbed on to buildings to catch a glimpse of their new leader in the seaside capital.

"This is a historic day for us," said Sahra Yusuf, a mother of three who was dressed in traditional white cloth. "This is a sign that Somalia will be able to stand on its own feet."
The Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council said it is content with the successful completion of the mission of Ethiopian forces in averting the threat posed against the country by extremist leadership of the Union of Islamic Courts (UIC) in Somalia.
